Gan yam charity beer festival

  • Gan Yam Brew Co 3 Benson View Works, Shap Road Industrial Estate Kendal, England, LA9 6NZ United Kingdom (map)

Taking place over the Coronation weekend, Gan Yam Brew Co are throwing open their doors for the bank holiday and inviting you to join them for their first ever beer festival. Showcasing over 15 different beers from breweries across the country including Crooked River Brewing Co. There will be a range of styles, flavours and specials to please, delight and surprise all tastes. The final beer list will be published closer to the festival.

Each day will be individually ticketed with a £3 entry fee, all of which is being donated to charity. You will also be able to redeem your first half pint of cask ale with a valid ticket, as a charitable donation from the brewery. Buy your tickets here.

Alongside the beer festival there will be a special blind wine tasting guessing game on the Saturday afternoon into the evening. Those taking part will be tasked with matching the various wines available to their respective tasting notes with bonus points awarded for correctly guessing the wine variety and region. The winner is simply the person with the most points and will receive a mystery prize.

There will also be a range of family activities and village fete games across the weekend with prizes to be won and proceeds going to charity.

Gan Yam Charity Beer Festival is a way to celebrate the lives of Arran Thomas, Liz Moss and Tim Scott, and raise money for the charities that supported them; Blood Cancer UK and New Start. Both Arran and Liz had leukaemia, Arran had a very rare form and Liz has the most common but most aggressive form. Arran died in 2016 at the age of 29 and Liz died in 2019 at the age of 41. Tim Scott left us in October 2022 at the age of 37. His time here would have been shorter were it not for the double lung transplant he received in April 2018. They all lived vibrant and fun packed lives, so the money is being raised for Blood Cancer UK and New Start to help continue their valuable work.
